John tells us why he got into this field “I chose this field because I’ve always had a passion for helping others, especially in ways that allow people to live with dignity and comfort. Being there for those who need extra care is something I’ve always found meaningful”.

John shares his best memory of a client “One of my favorite memories is the conversations I have with a client who was an enthusiastic soccer fan. I always looked forward to our chats about our favorite teams, and her energy and passion really inspired me”.

 Here is what Emmanuel had to say:

“I discovered my passion for caregiving as a teenager when I went on holidays to my late grandma's home who was at the time 90 years old. I would groom and cut her gray hairs and she would always praise me for my carefulness and gentility while cutting her hair. We bonded so much that she was always anticipating my visits after that particular holiday had ended. It was while I was with her that I discovered I had passion for life in general and would do anything to help put a smile on her face and other elders around me. This eventually led to my venturing fully into the healthcare field”.

On the day my assigned shifts with the family were to end, the man called me to the dining where he was seated with the wife and started narrating how I've been selfless in taking care of him even in his blind state. He said of all the caregivers that had been assigned to him that none came close to how gentle and kind I was. His words were filled with emotions that I didn't know when tears dropped from my eyes. I really miss that family and that's an experience I wouldn't forget in a hurry”.

Home Instead is pleased to announce Supekshya is our May Care Professional of the Month! Supekshya is being recognized for the compassion, patience and commitment to her client every day! 

Here is a little about Supekshya:

She is a passionate international nurse with immense quality for caring and assisting clients. After coming to Canada, she chose to work in health care as a PSW. This decision stemmed from a deep rooted desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. Growing up, she witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by individuals who require assistance due to age, illness, or disability. This ignited a sense of empathy and a calling to provide compassionate care and support to those in need.

Supekshya continues to BUILDS TRUST with her client and their family by creating a special relationship that consists of her heartfelt kindness, compassion and conversation.

Supekshya shares her experience about one of her clients. She says "one particular client experience stands out in my mind. She is an elderly woman I had the privilege of working with. She has a vibrant soul despite her age and her medical condition. Despite her challenges, she approached each day with a positive attitude and an unwavering spirit. She enjoyed sharing stories and wanted to spend time talking to other people and going out shopping. Due to her medical condition, she was no longer able to go shopping by herself and needed assistance. I drove her to go shopping and it was these precious moments that I spent with her.

In the months that followed, our bond deepened as we spent countless hours chatting, laughing, and sharing stories. Through our interactions, I learned the importance of treating each client not just as a patient but as a unique individual with their own dreams, interests, and struggles.

Supekshya continues to TAKE THE LEAD by being constant in her clients care and communicating with the family on an ongoing basis.

Home Instead would like to congratulate Chandandeep on her achievement of Care Professional of the Year for 2022. Chandandeep’s dedication to her clients, their families and our office staff is why we are recognizing her as this year’s award winner.

• Chandandeep became a care professional with Home Instead in November 2020. She has been dedicated to her clients ever since.
• Chandandeep came to Canada on her own with the full blessing of her parents to go after dreams of becoming an international student and nurse. She has no family here with her and even though she misses her family dearly she feels like she is doing her family proud. Chandandeep’s Home Instead family is very proud of everything she has done, and we know her family back home would also be quite proud of their daughters’ accomplishments.
