We are thrilled to recognize Mary-Lynn as our Care Professional of the Month for September 2022
Mary-Lynn, you joined Home Instead in July of last year, bringing with you a wealth of knowledge and a willingness to share that with our clients.
During your time with us, you have worked 1769 hours and had 39 different clients. And during this time, we have learned a thing or two about you. One of those things is that you have a way with people. As you know, sometimes we have challenges with clients and yet, you find a way to not only manage those challenges but to thrive in these situations. At the same time, you make each visit a positive experience.
Mary-Lynn, you take the time and the initiative. And what we mean by that is that you put your heart and soul into this work. This is not about just filling in time, for you. This is about service to others and giving. You carefully observe and find ways to connect with clients. You ask questions. You think proactively. You help others share their experiences with you and then you validate them. You put careful thought into how you can make those hours you’re together, the best part of the day for the client. That might mean doing some crafts together or playing a game. It might mean playing the piano for them or taking them to check how the plant you planted together, is coming along. Whatever you have observed that will engage them—you make sure they have the opportunity to express themselves. You bring things along with you that you think they might enjoy. You try this, you try that, you think about it some more if you’re not achieving your desired result and you try something else. This is phenomenal!
And still, another thing we learned about you, Mary-Lynn is the level of respect you have for others. Not only with clients, but also to your Home Instead team. Every email, text, or conversation, you quickly reply and are always on board—you get it. You understand that the best care for others requires a cohesive team, and you eagerly demonstrate you are a willing part of this team. We appreciate this.
Any time we have a shift for you, you readily accept it. You read the care plans carefully and prepare so you can bring the best version of yourself to the client.
We’ve learned that you are kind person, who remains ever positive-- even when managing your own life obstacles, you still ensured you gave everything you could during your visits with clients.
You are skilled at building relationships. You adapt as needed and remain flexible. You continue to be a great communicator and you are always advocating for your clients. This means so much to families. You continuously demonstrate to us that you are not only up for the challenge but that you want to give to others in a way that resonates with them, a way that changes an average day into a incredible day. A way that expresses to them that you are on their side and that you truly do care.
Mary-Lynn, as you have worked, learned, and grown serving each client and bringing your best, and we have also learned much about you and that big old heart of yours. Thank you for sharing it with others.
Thank you for the difference your make every day in the lives of our clients and their families. Thank you for being that present, understanding and, sincere friend they all need. We are lucky to have you as part of the Home Instead team.
