Congratulations Shannon on being chosen as January’s CAREGiver of the month! You have offered consistent evening and weekend availability on top of your administrative job at the school. Because of this we were able to help clients like Bobbie who required extensive care at the end of her life. You served two palliative clients at the same time and contributed to fulfilling each family’s wish of remaining home until end of life.
Introducing you to Jessie was a highlight. Your warmth and presence gave daughter Joan the support she needed. I could physically see the relief in her the very moment she saw you interact with her mom. Jessie told you she loved you on the first day. Then after your visit, to hear you say that you realized why you were meant to help this family made perfect sense to us why you joined our team and our mission. I was wonderful to see you discover the difference you could make by being with Jessie. That moment made me wish that families could see and hear how invested our wonderful caregivers are, but I saw Jessie’s daughter felt this too, as she later said, ‘you are just like family’. You gained this trust only seeing them on weekends for about nine weeks!
You have come in for training and requested support and you quickly absorb new ideas and skills. Off you go and just offer your skills to your clients! You also demonstrated great teamwork with other your client’s life. You have brought so much to your clients in such a brief period. We cannot wait to see what 2021 will bring! Congratulations on an award well deserved.
