Dear Todd, June 3, 2021
Congratulations on being selected as our CAREGiver of the Month! We are glad you joined our team a year and a half ago, coming to us with deep roots in Saskatoon after years of service with the StarPhoenix. You have served 17 clients with kindness, gentleness, and creativity. We appreciate your patience during a slow start and how you fully embrace the caregiver role with humility and good humour.
You have a great ability to connect with people and put them at ease and remind them that, even though you’re in the minority gender, and some clients are apprehensive of your skills, you can cook, clean and bake just like the majority on our team.
You gave yourself to your clients even while caring for your Dad and later supporting your Mom. It is these kinds of experiences that continue to shape us in our caregiving role. When we think of you, we think of some of your exploits with your clients. Here are a few examples:
Georgia – When her needs increased you offered your availability and were respectful, discreet, and would ask for assistance from staff if needed. Your efforts clearly made an impression.
From Rhonda: I thought I would let you know the visit last night with Todd went well. My mother had a smirk on her face when I said Todd was here last night. I’m not sure what that means. Other caregivers said, ”We’ve been seeing Georgia for months and she doesn’t know our names. Todd is there twice and she asks, When’s Todd coming back?”
Mandy – enjoys your company very much. You are her chauffeur and her arms to carry stuff from Dutch Growers and most often when you get Groceries.
Sam – Your calm presence kept Sam settled and at ease. You engaged with Sam and took him out to the Forestry Farm, the WDM, down to the river and, of course, out for ice cream.
Forest – Forest's daughter mentioned to us what a good space of mind he was in when you were there with him and asked us to thank you for all that you did for him.
Larry – You made a good connection with Larry. When he moved, you talked about how to make the new place feel a little more like home. Larry wanted you for both days - that’s high praise!
Bill – really likes you and it seems like the feeling is mutual. You said how you enjoy talking with him. You must also be a good driver as that is most important to Bill!
M & D – You’re doing a great job with Mike and impressing them and us with your baking skills. Rita said,”Lemon pie? I don’t even make lemon pie!”
So thank you, Todd. We appreciate your inspiring contribution to our team and our clients. We are pleased to recognize you as our CAREGiver of the month. Congratulations!
