Be a Santa to a Senior, Mississauga 2013

Written By: Home Instead Mississauga

Brightening the Holidays for Mississauga’s Seniors

Mississauga: 11/10/2013. This season, local community members in Mississauga can give holiday cheer to area seniors by participating in the Be a Santa to a Senior. The program kicks-off with a Tree Decorating Event on Tuesday, November 12th, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, at the Mississauga Seniors’ Centre (1389 Cawthra Road).

The popular campaign, that for the past five years has delivered over 1,500 gifts to local seniors, is being executed again this holiday season. The program – run by the Mississauga Home Instead office in partnership with Kellar Williams Realty, Trillium Health Centre West Toronto and The Mississauga Seniors’ Centre – provides gifts and companionship to seniors in the community during the holiday season.

Be a Santa to a Senior gives back to older adults in our area, many of whom have had significant, positive influence on our lives,” said Greg Bechard, owner of Home Instead Mississauga. “During this season of giving, we encourage local residents to say thank you to these community members by donating a gift.”

Christmas trees will be placed at Kellar Williams Realty (103 Lakeshore Road E) and The Mississauga Seniors’ Centre (1389 Cawthra Road) starting November 12th and will feature paper ornaments with the first name of the senior and their gift request. Local community members can pick up an ornament, buy the requested item and return it unwrapped, with the ornament attached.

The Mississauga Home Instead office will enlist volunteers to collect, wrap and distribute the gifts to local seniors.
