May 2022 Care Professional of the Month - Selam T.
To no one’s surprise, except maybe Selam’s, she has been elected the Care Professional of the Month of May! Selam has a quiet, reassuring presence that can put any individual at ease. Her quiet demeanor is balanced by a bubbly smile that is reflected in her eyes behind her face mask. She has a passion in her heart for caring for others and it is clear to everyone who has the joy of meeting her. Her extraordinary will to care for our clients, shows in her work every day.
In Selam’s Care Professional Bio she wrote: “I am comfortable to work anywhere with anyone.” which has been proven time and time again. Selam flourishes with even our most difficult clientele. Selam recently had the opportunity to work with one of our lovely clients, who has daily struggles that lead to anxious times. In this situation Selam’s calm and gentle nature allowed her to ease the clients’ stress and anxiety. Her understanding of what the client was feeling, and her resourcefulness led her to read the client her favourite scripture. Something that had not been thought of before. Selam took the time to share kind words of encouragement, and this drastically changed the tone for the day. That client has since shared her gratitude for Selam’s compassion and understanding.
Our Home Instead office team had the chance to meet with Selam and something she said really stuck, she shared that she sees a bit of herself in all her clients. To Selam this is the reason she finds it so important to give our clients the best care possible because they feel like family. Being a care professional comes naturally to Selam and the Home Instead team is truly lucky to have her as a part of the family. We truly appreciate everything she has done for our team and our clients.
