The Home Instead Burnaby team is thrilled to report that its 2022 “BE A SANTA TO A SENIOR” campaign has shaped up exceedingly well!!
Over the past two years, the pandemic has taken a toll particularly on seniors, causing pervasive isolation and loneliness. For many seniors, regular companionship visits have suffered, and the lack of social contact and depression have become major concerns. In this backdrop, the holidays become even more difficult for such seniors.
Home Instead’s annual BE A SANTA TO A SENIOR program is a humble effort to connect with the seniors in our community and show how valued they are. As part of the 2022 campaign our team will be providing gifts to over 300 seniors in Burnaby to bring some holiday cheer!
Home Instead is proud to have kept the program running through the pandemic and thrilled at the support from our partners and volunteers, who were eager to devote their time and efforts to help seniors within our community beat the “holiday blues”.
A special shoutout to our little friends at Chaffe Burke Elementary School, who prepared personalized postcards for each senior under the 2022 campaign. We are grateful to these students for their thoughtful and kind participation.
Thanks for the support of our friends at the BC Care Providers Association and SafeCare BC for their team of energetic volunteers who helped us in the packing of the gifts.
Home Instead Burnaby is proud to be recognized by Burnaby Now for this effort. Such coverage goes a long way to create awareness about the holiday season being a lonelier time for isolated seniors within our community and how small, thoughtful gestures from all of us can make a big difference!
