Local Program Delivers Holiday Spirit to Richmond Hill and Vaughan Seniors

Written By: Home Instead Senior Care Richmond Hill & Vaughan

With the holiday season fast approaching, community members across Richmond Hill & Vaughan will be looking forward to getting together with loved ones to celebrate one of the most wonderful times of the year. Unfortunately, it’s often forgotten that the holidays can be a very difficult time for seniors who may not have friends or family nearby to enjoy the warmth of the season with.

To help make the holidays a bright and cheerful time for all seniors, the Home Instead office serving Richmond Hill & Vaughan will once again be launching the Be a Santa to a Senior program this month. The program invites local residents to purchase and wrap a gift (or two) for a senior in need.  Great gift ideas can include clothing, toiletries, Christmas cactuses, colouring books and picture frames.

Alternatively, local businesses can also collect gifts for donations themselves as part of the program. No matter how you choose to participate, you will help provide seniors a much-needed boost, not just from gifts, but also through the interaction and companionship that comes with the Be a Santa to a Senior program.

Last year, with private donations and the support of local businesses like AMD, TeraGo and Nobel Biocare, over 100 gifts were delivered to seniors in Richmond Hill & Vaughan. You can help us bring holiday cheer to even more seniors this year by driving gift donations at your workplace, or perhaps with your family and friends. Every little bit helps and goes a long way towards brightening a senior’s holidays this year.
