Care Professional of the Month – February
We are excited to announce Thelma Rose as the recipient of the Home Instead Markham Care Professional of the Month award for February 2023.
Thelma has been working with the Home Instead Team for just under 6 months and she has been a great asset to the team. From day one Thelma came in with an exceptionally positive attitude and greeted us all with big hugs and a smile. Despite her short time here, Thelma has solidified strong relationships with all the clients she has worked with. We have heard nothing short of positive and raving reviews from all of Thelma’s clients and their families. Thelma takes great pride in ensuring that she provides the best care possible, the client’s needs are her top priority.
Thelma was born in Kingston, Jamaica which is the capital of the country. In 1989, Thelma came to Canada to take care of her ill grandma before she was later moved into a nursing home. Helping her grandmother during a difficult time is where Thelma first got a glimpse into the role of a caregiver. From there she worked numerous jobs, but decided she wanted to go back to school to fulfill a career in nursing and further her career. Many years later she decided to take a leap of faith and join the Home Instead Markham Team!
When she is not working, she enjoys going for long walks (when it’s not too cold), cooking, watching tv, and spending time with her family. One of Thelma’s favorite parts about working with Home Instead is when she gets to prepare a meal for her clients. The joy she gets when the client tells her they enjoyed her cooking really resonates with Thelma. Thelma loves to assist clients with their everyday tasks to help their daily life be a little bit easier!
We recently got a message from one of the clients Thelma works with expressing their gratitude for her dedication to the job. The client explained that due to the big snowfall that happened a couple of weeks ago they didn’t expect anyone to show up, but to their surprise they see Thelma coming up the driveway at 8 am despite all the snow. They were extremely grateful for her dedication and very appreciative of her help.
