Care Professional of the Month – July
We are delighted to announce Angela Wallinson as the proud recipient of the Home Instead Markham Care Professional of the Month award for July 2023. Angela's journey, resilience, and dedication to making a difference have left an indelible mark on the lives of her clients and their families.
A single parent of three wonderful children, Angela's life took an unexpected turn when fate dealt her the heartbreaking loss of her childhood love and husband in 2010. In pursuit of new beginnings, she relocated to Canada in 2012, facing the challenges of single parenthood in a foreign land. Throughout this journey, Angela found solace and strength in her unwavering faith which not only shaped her home but also serves as a guiding light in her caregiving journey.
Angela has BA in English and she managed a family business before her journey led her to Canada. Driven by her love for children, Angela obtained a certificate in Early Childhood Development, leading her to roles in Daycare centers and even the Children's Liturgy in her Parish. The pandemic prompted Angela to take a bold step by venturing into the food service industry, obtaining a certificate as a dietary aide to impact the lives of seniors. This culinary background, coupled with her caring nature, inspired Angela to further her education as a PSW, allowing her to extend her support to seniors seeking to remain in their cherished homes.
Eventually after briefly working for another organization, Angela found Home Instead. Her initial encounter with our team was a truly positive experience for her and left a lasting impression. She has really appreciated the fact that our office is run by a nurse (Tracy), whose calm and compassionate nature really resonates with her and from whom she has learned a lot from. Angela's dedication and enthusiasm for the role were further ignited by the prospect of making her clients happy and building genuine connections.
The approach that Angela takes to caregiving reflects her vibrant spirit. She finds immense joy in dancing with clients and even works with a client who sings while they dance together. Angela's culinary expertise shines as she crafts delicious meals that leave clients and families raving. Her nurturing nature extends beyond physical care, as she finds comfort in praying for her clients and creating a clean and serene environment for them.
Angela’s commitment to providing exceptional care, her ability to find joy in the little things, and her genuine connections with clients make her an extraordinary caregiver. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Angela for being named the Care Professional of the Month for July.
