Care Professional of the Month – July 2024
We are thrilled to introduce our Care Pro of the Month for July 2024, Cherryl Martin. Cherryl is known for her dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care to her clients. Her journey reflects a blend of professional excellence and a heartfelt passion for caregiving.
Cherryl began her nursing career in the Philippines, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to her profession. She then spent 12 years working as a nurse in Kuwait, where she honed her skills and grew both professionally and personally. The skills and knowledge she gained during her time in Kuwait have been invaluable, allowing her to make a positive difference in the lives of those she cares for. In August 2023, Cherryl moved to Canada as a student, embarking on a new chapter in her life. She is currently in her second year of the Advanced Healthcare Leadership program and aims to complete it by April 2025. Simultaneously, she is working towards registering to practice nursing in Canada, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to her profession.
Cherryl’s interests extend beyond nursing. During her high school days, she played volleyball and badminton, and she continues to enjoy these sports in her free time. She also loves traveling and is excited to explore different places in Canada. She dreams of visiting Hawaii, Switzerland, and Korea in the future, inspired by her love for K-Dramas.
For Cherryl, caregiving is a deeply meaningful choice. She finds great fulfillment in supporting and uplifting others while continually growing in her role. Building meaningful connections with clients is a key part of her approach, as these relationships are the foundation of trust and effective care. One memorable experience for Cherryl involved a client who initially seemed reserved and hesitant to accept assistance. Over time, through patience and consistent care, Cherryl developed a strong bond with the client. The client eventually expressed appreciation for her work, marking the beginning of a trusting relationship. Another client’s family member also shared their peace of mind when Cherryl was present to care for their loved one. These moments of trust and appreciation highlight the significant impact Cherryl has on her clients’ lives.
Working with Home Instead has been a fulfilling experience for Cherryl. The professionalism and respect among the team fosters a collaborative and supportive environment.
