November Care Professional of the Month – Isha Sesay

We are pleased to announce Isha Sesay as the next recipient of Home Instead Markham’s Care Professional of the Month award for November 2022.

Isha has been a valued member of the Home Instead Team for a little over a year and she has been a wonderful asset. All the clients that Isha has worked with, rave about how much they appreciate and love her presence. Nurturing, caring, and supportive are a few of the words that come to mind when you think of Isha.

She is extremely hardworking and always ensures that her clients receive the best care possible. Isha is also very responsive when our office team reaches out to her to fill open shifts, which you know we love! We are extremely grateful to have her be a part of our team and we are excited to see what she accomplishes in the future!

Isha is a wonderful mother to two beautiful girls with whom she spends her time when she is not working. She cherishes spending time with her family, especially over the holiday season. Isha enjoys getting in touch with her creative side and loves to read novels of all different genres. She spends a lot of her time going on long walks getting fresh air, even in the extreme cold! You often see Isha walking between clients’ houses instead of driving when she is able to.

Isha’s journey to her career at Home Instead was not a straight path; she endured many ups and downs along the way. She was originally enrolled in nursing school at Ryerson University and made it to her third year but had to put a pause on her studies due to personal reasons. From there she began working with an agency that would send her to hospitals to work with patients. She ended up working at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto in the Trauma Centre. 12 years ago, she began working for an organization that specializes in assisting adults with physical and mental challenges where she still works today. Following her time at the hospital, she stumbled upon Home Instead Markham and is currently working with multiple clients. While part of the Home Instead team she is also finishing up her Registered Practical Nursing degree and is hoping to enter an RN program at some point next year!

The main reason Isha enjoys working with Home Instead Markham is because of how involved the entire team is with each client and Care Professional. She really appreciates how all the office members genuinely care about each client’s unique needs and the care professional’s well-being. Whether it be the constant in-home check-ins from Tracy or Leanne to ensure everything is running smoothly or the quick phone calls to staff to confirm they are comfortable with the assignments, Isha says these actions go a long way.

A favorite memory Isha has from working at Home Instead was a specific instance when she was laughing and dancing with a client. It is a simple one, but it holds a special place in her heart. Little moments like making a client laugh or putting a smile on their face make all tough times worth it! Congratulations on this well-deserved award, Isha!
