October 2022 Care Professional of the Month - Huda Malik
We are pleased to announce Huda Malik as the thirteenth recipient of Home Instead Markham’s Care Professional of the Month award for October 2022.
Huda is a wonderful asset to our team and continues to exceed our expectations daily. We are very lucky to have her. As soon as Huda walks into a room she immediately brings the energy up and creates a comforting environment. Personable, dedicated, and caring are some of the words that come to mind when you think to describe Huda. Huda is always very respectful and thorough when assisting her clients. She builds a relationship with everyone she works with. Huda has always been very reliable and helps pick up shifts whenever we are in a staffing crisis. We appreciate everything Huda does for us and are grateful to have met her.
Huda is a loving wife and mother to three wonderful children; she also recently became a grandmother to two beautiful babies. She loves spending time with her family and friends as they are extremely important aspects of her life. When she is not with her friends and family, Huda enjoys reading crime novels and watching murder mystery shows/movies. Huda has a huge reservoir of love and care, naturally ingrained in her personality, a default setting you can say. All her life she has tried her best to hand it out generously to everyone that happens to be in her life. When her kids were growing up, Huda was a stay-at-home mom, but now that her kids have grown up and can take care of themselves, she decided to look for work. Huda has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English Literature that she earned before she had family.
Huda’s favourite part about working at Home Instead is that this organization allows her to provide companionship to these wonderful seniors in their own comfort zone (their home), which allows her to connect with them in a much more productive way, as she and the client can comfortably communicate in all ways. She wanted a job that not only kept her busy but also allowed her to add value to her life and others as well. Her role at Home Instead was exactly what she was looking for as she wanted a spiritually rewarding job.
One of Huda’s greatest memories while working at Home Instead was with her client Jean who previously worked as a nurse. Prior to her shift with Jean, Huda had a fall and twisted her ankle, but despite the injursy still went to work as she knew Jean was having a bad day. Jean quickly noticed Huda’s ankle and the nurse in her became activated! She took out all the bandages and sprays and ointments and dressed her foot so professionally. The caregiver/client roles had been reversed and they shared a laugh together about it. Huda was just happy to distract Jean from her worries and have a good laugh.
