Nadia's journey in caregiving is deeply ingrained in her cultural roots. Hailing from Guyana, Nadia was raised with a strong sense of responsibility for the older generation. The values instilled in her from a young age, emphasizing the care of elders within the family rather than in nursing homes, have shaped her compassionate approach to caregiving. Nadia's teenage years were spent tending to her grandmother and great-grandparents, laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to the well-being of the elderly.
Upon arriving in Canada, Nadia pursued her passion for caring for the elderly by graduating as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) in 2003. Since then, she has dedicated herself to the field, finding fulfillment in her work and prioritizing love and respect for the elderly. Nadia's enduring commitment to her role is evident in her genuine enjoyment of the job, where her compassion shines through in every interaction.
Nadia's connection with her clients goes beyond routine caregiving; it is marked by moments of joy and shared experiences. One particularly memorable moment was during a Trivia game, where a client with dementia astounded everyone with his sharp intellect, answering questions that even Nadia found challenging. This heartwarming instance reflects not only the resilience of the human spirit but also the strong bond Nadia forms with her clients. Her ability to appreciate and celebrate these moments of connection speaks volumes about her endearing personality.
