Care Professional of the Month – September 2024
We are excited to announce that Pauline Abe has been selected as Home Instead Markham’s Care Professional of the Month for September 2024. Pauline is an outstanding member of our team, known for her unwavering dedication, compassion, and reliability. Her calm confidence and deep knowledge of caregiving make her a standout, and her ability to connect with her clients on a personal level is truly inspiring. We’re incredibly lucky to have her as part of our Home Instead family.
Pauline’s background has played a significant role in shaping the compassionate caregiver she is today. Born in Nigeria, she was raised in a family that valued education, community service, and strong family ties. These early influences laid the foundation for her passion for caregiving and helping others. She recently graduated from Centennial College and continues to pursue her love of learning and personal growth, all while juggling her role as a devoted mother of two children, aged 16 and 11.
Much of Pauline’s passion for caring for the elderly stems from her close relationships with her grandmother, whom she cared for before she passed, and her 80-year-old mother. These experiences deeply ingrained in her a sense of empathy, patience, and compassion. Pauline believes in treating her clients with the same respect, care, and kindness that she would offer her own family members. Her approach to caregiving is built on a foundation of trust and understanding, and her clients quickly come to value her for both her professionalism and her heart.
Since joining Home Instead Markham, Pauline has proven to be an essential part of the team. She speaks highly of the supportive management and her colleagues, and she values the company's strong sense of community and commitment to both staff and clients. Pauline appreciates the positive work environment and the opportunities for professional growth. She consistently goes above and beyond in her duties, always eager to lend a hand whenever needed. Management describes Pauline as incredibly knowledgeable, confident in her abilities, highly reliable, and someone they can always count on to provide the best possible care for clients.
One of the more challenging moments in Pauline’s caregiving journey was when a client unfortunately passed away during her shift. The experience was deeply emotional for Pauline, but the support and compassion she received from the management team helped her process the event and move forward. This moment further deepened her appreciation for the culture of care at Home Instead, where caregivers and clients alike are treated with empathy and respect.
Pauline’s commitment to her clients and her positive attitude have made her a truly special member of the Home Instead Markham team.
