Home Instead is currently seeking an energetic and outdoorsy Care Professional to provide 1:1 care for a client with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). The ideal candidate should be active, and enthusiastic about engaging the client in outdoor activities. This position requires a passion for promoting the client's physical and mental well-being through outdoor adventures and recreational pursuits. The Care Professional will work closely with the client, ensuring their safety, comfort, and enjoyment during outings while providing exceptional care.

Position: Part-Time/Casual hours
Location: Nanaimo Area
Shifts: 2- 4 hour shifts Wednesdays & Thursdays, With the option for pick up of additional days.

Rotation: 2 + days / week
Specifications: Outdoor activities (Walking, Hiking) & Indoor sports/activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized and compassionate care to a client with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
  • Conduct regular health assessments and promptly report any changes in the client's condition to the appropriate medical professionals.
  • Accompany the client on outings, hikes, nature walks, and other outdoor adventures.
  • Ensure the client's safety during transportation and activities, adhering to all necessary precautions.
  • Encouraging the client's participation in recreational activities that promote physical and mental well-being.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to the client, fostering a positive and uplifting environment.

Requirements:

  • Specialized training or experience in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) care is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with individuals in a home care, rehabilitation, or similar setting.
  • Active and outdoorsy personality with a passion for engaging in recreational activities.
  • Ability to provide 1:1 care and adapt to the unique needs of the client.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to provide emotional support.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
