I freaked out a little when mom and dad decided to become snowbirds, flying to Arizona each year before the winter brought her chilling winds to the northern Rockies. And when they decided to stay there year round, it was hard to understand how they could leave a place they'd called home their whole lives. And what would I do without them nearby?

Paradise Found

It only took one trip to The Grand Canyon State to understand how my folks had found their paradise, and our visits became semi-annual events. My photo albums are filled with sweet memories of Dad and the boys at HoHoKam Park for spring training, Mom and I at the shops and galleries in Scottsdale, and the kids rafting on the Verde River in Sedona.

Dealing with Change

It's been terribly hard since Dad died last year. We've all been worried about Mom living on her own. I wish I could do more, but she's so far away. She needs some regular help, but she's fiercely determined not to give up her independence. This has been a lot for her to deal with, and the last thing she needs is another big change like a move.
